Napa Valley Equine

Lindsay Fisher, DVM

Lindsay Fisher is the sole practice owner. A native to Napa, she spent her childhood riding at Wild Horse Valley Ranch. It was at a young age she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. After completing her undergraduate degree at UC Davis, she spent one year working as a technician in the Large Animal Ultrasound Department at the university prior to veterinary school. In 2010 she graduated from the UC Davis veterinary program and went straight to work in Napa where she continues to work as an equine practitioner.
Lindsay spent her early life competing in hunter/jumpers and rode for the UCD equestrian team before becoming interested in endurance riding. Lindsay has had both local and international success in this sport. In 2010 she competed for the USA at the Altech World Equestrian Games and in 2012 was one of two riders invited to ride in the Presidents Cup Race in Abu Dhabi. Locally, she has placed Top Ten at the Tevis Cup on four occasions and almost pulled off a win in 2017.
More importantly, she a mother to two wonderfully active children, Hailey 4 and Austin 2, whom keep her very busy.
Lindsay enjoys all aspects of her profession but has a special interest in working with the horse as an athlete and helping both horse and rider attain their goals.

Claudia Sonder, DVM
Claudia grew up in Massachusetts as the fourth of five children. She professed to her parents at the age of five that she wanted to be a veterinarian and spent her childhood years riding and caring for horses. She showed hunters and jumpers as a teenager and worked for a large equine show jumping barn. Claudia attended Tufts University as an undergraduate. where she competed regularly in the Intercollegiate Equestrian circuit while enrolled in the pre-med program. Claudia was accepted into UC Davis Veterinary School in 1990 and graduated after completing the equine track in 1995.
In 2013, Dr. Sonder accepted the position of the Director of the Center for Equine Health at UC Davis. Her goal in taking this job is to be able to improve equine health care and medicine on a larger scale. She looks forward to the couple days each month that she gets to work in the field at Napa Valley Equine as she gets to see lots of familiar faces and get her hands dirty.
Dr. Sonder has a special interest in diagnosing and treating lameness in sport horses, utilizing the latest in digital imaging and joint injection procedures. She also enjoys equine neonatal medicine and assisted reproduction. In her "spare" time Claudia enjoys spending time outdoors with her three children, Molly, Mason and Merren.

Vanessa and Lindsay were excited to have the opportunity to once again collaborate when Vanessa joined the Napa Valley Equine team in January 2013. Vanessa has been excited to integrate acupuncture into her daily practice, she completed the IVAS international veterinary acupuncture course in Texas in 2013 and looks forward to continuing to offer a balanced practice of veterinary medicine tailored to each individual horse and client.
